Carolina Pet Company has partnered with Pendleton Woolen Mills for over a decade. In that time, we've learned that what makes Pendleton different is an excellence in textiles. They don't put their name on anything that doesn't meet their standard. That's the same standard we hold ourselves to.
The Heritage Wool Pet Bed is the product of that shared commitment. Pendleton's heavyweight jacquard wool. American-made cotton canvas. Sewn together at our facility in South Carolina.
A mill that has never stopped running
The Pendleton mill in Pendleton, Oregon is open to the public for free tours — worth the visit if you're ever in the Pacific Northwest.

Pendleton Woolen Mills has operated in the Pacific Northwest since 1863. Their original American mills are among the oldest continually operating textile mills in the country and are famous for producing iconic fabrics inspired by the beauty and diversity of the west.
Pendleton has become synonymous with wool, and close to half of all the wool used in their products is sourced in the USA from growers who have been supplying Pendleton for over a hundred years.
Why Wool?
Wool is a naturally insulating, breathable, and moisture-wicking fiber. It also offers thermal regulation, odor resistance, and long-term durability. Since the start of Carolina Pet's pet program with Pendleton, the idea of a wool pet bed has been considered, and with the strong resurgence of pet owners searching for natural materials for their pet, we thought it was the perfect time to partner directly with the mill itself.
Most people's first question and concern with wool is washability. We're used to being able to throw our synthetic fabrics in the washer and dryer. This fabric shouldn't need to be washed under normal use, and can be freshened up by brushing and vacuuming off as needed. If in need of a deeper clean, the cover zips off and can be dry cleaned to keep the wool fibers strong and intact for years to come.

This is a special-edition collection, which means production quantities are limited by the wool itself. We will work with Pendleton to offer a variety of patterns as we sell through our current stock.
Currently they are available in three patterns and three sizes of the minimal —small, medium, and large—to fit dogs of all breeds.
The patterns
Three patterns from Pendleton's American West collection, each woven in their Pacific Northwest mills.

Rancho Arroyo Black
A bold geometric on a near-black ground. The one that stops you.
A near-black ground with bold geometric patterning in teal, gold, and cream. High contrast, strong presence.
Mesilla
Warm Southwestern tones in cream, rust, and sage.
Cream, rust, and sage in a classic Southwestern geometric. The most versatile of the three—compatible with a wide range of interiors and styles.
More than ten years of Pendleton Pet
Carolina Pet Company has worked with Pendleton for over a decade. That's not just a licensing arrangement it's an ongoing partnership built on the same principles.
The Heritage Wool Pet Bed is the latest result of that partnership, and one of the most considered things we've made together. In the year America turns 250, it felt like the right time to put something like this into the world.
